Deer Bone Fish Hook Carving Pendant
(DBC001)
This pendant is a work of art and uses totally natural materials. It is hand carved and no animals were harmed in creation of this carving.
Deer farming in New Zealand is a very large business. It produces a large variety of consumable items. One of these products are deer antlers.
Antlers are not like horns, antlers are shed each year and new ones grow each spring. The deer's antlers grow from what is called a "bud" and they take about 4 months to grow. When the antlers are harvested the remaining portion is called the "Button" or "coronet" and this is shed naturally leaving the "bud" to produce a new, larger set of antlers for the next breeding season.
These buttons are collected and these stunning pendants are created within these buttons. The pendant is carved from the button into a shape of the Maori Fish Hook.
The Fish Hook Represents strength and determination and brings peace, prosperity and good health. Also provides safe journey over water.
The pendant comes in a presentation box and features the button from which the pendant was carved. It also comes with a fact card about the pendant.
The pendant measures 45mm (1 3/4 inches) tall and 30mm (1 1/4 inch) wide. The pendant comes with a black waxed cord featuring a deer antler toggle.
