Tiki
The Tiki, like most Maori images, has a variety of meanings, but the most favored is that it is a fertility symbol. Note the hands on the loins. It is also a symbol of goodwill, and is the favored symbol to give as a gift to a friend or revered person.
Beautiful to hold and admire, especially the variations in color, which make you want to see inside it, just as we love to find out about the person inside.
Bone was an important material for the Maori. It was hard, durable and simple to work. It was used for fish hooks, chisels, spear points and many other useful tools. Moa bone, seal ivory and human bone were the main sources. It has been said that once you wear a piece of bone next to your skin, some of you passes into the pendant and the pendant becomes one with you.
