Douglas Creek Greenstone Traditional Teardrop Pendant
A traditional teardrop pendant which is known to the Maori of New Zealand as the Roimata. It is said to represent the flow of positive energy, healing and comfort. Teardrop pendants are generally regarded as touchstones, ideal for meditation. They also represent a connection to the land.
Size: The pendant measures 60mm (2.4 inch) long.
This teardrop was hand carved in the invercargill region in the south of the south island of New Zealand by Nathan Jerry. Nathan is trained in traditional maori carving in wood, bone and stone. His has been carving traditional maori designs for more than 20 years. He is of Tainui decent and His Hapu is Ngati Kiriwai. He has the deepest respect for our nations most prized possession - pounamu. He currently lives in Invercargill and works from his own studio.
Douglas Creek Pounamu / Greenstone is found on the west coast of the south island and is becoming very rare these days and hence collectible.
The pendant comes with a meaning card and velvet pouch.
