Twin Maori Dolls on Wood Base
A set of two Maori dolls, a warrior and a wahine. Each of the dolls are 200mm (7.9 inches) tall and they both stand on a wooden base.
These authentically clothed New Zealand dolls were first crafted by Margaret Parr in 1951. Each doll has been carefully crafted in traditional Maori dress using natural products. The cloak is made from feathers and natural fibres. The grass skirt and pinpin are created from similar fibres to those originally used by the Maori. The warriors are ready to perform the challenge complete with taiaha weapon, and the wahine have thier pois at the ready for performing the traditional action songs.
The dolls also feature the Hei Tiki - a greenstone pendant worn around the neck.
