Douglas Creek Greenstone Traditional Koru Pendant
A beautiful pendant of New Zealand Douglas Creek Pounamu / greenstone. The pendant is in the style of the traditioanl Maori koru. The pendant comes with an adjustable black cord, meaning card and jewellery box and is carved by master carver Nathan Jerry.
Size: The pendant measures 42mm (1 5/8 inches) in diameter and 6mm (1/8 inch) deep.
This koru was hand carved in the invercargill region in the south of the south island of New Zealand by Nathan Jerry. Nathan is trained in traditional maori carving in wood, bone and stone. He has been carving traditional maori designs for more than 20 years. He is of Tainui descent and his Hapu is Ngati Kiriwai. He has the deepest respect for our nations most prized possession - pounamu. He currently lives in Invercargill and works from his own studio.
Douglas Creek Pounamu / Greenstone is found on the west coast of the south island and is becoming very rare these days and hence collectible.
The pendant has been hand carved with a matte finish giving the pendant a beautiful natural and smooth feel.

The KoruThis pendant also features a Koru design, the koru has been inspired by the unfurling fern frond, however in a spiritual sense the Maori use the Koru to represent peace, tranquility, personal growth, positive change and awakening.
This pendant really shows the natural beauty of greenstone. Greenstone is regarded as precious to the Maori of New Zealand and given as a taonga (gift) it is an honour to receive.
The pendant comes in a velvet pouch with a koru meaning card.
