New Zealand Greenstone Koru Hook

The Koru is the name given by maori to the unfurling fern frond symbolising regrowth, new beginnings, peace and tranquility. The koru is an iconic symbol of New Zealand flora and is commonly used in Maori tattoos and carvings.
The hei-matau or fish hook as it is more commonly known symbolises strength, prosperity, abundance, fertility and safe passage over water. The hei-matau is held in great reverence by the Maori people as a cultural treasure. According to Maori legend it is believed that the north island of New Zealand was once a huge fish caught by Maui, the great mariner.
This pendant is 40mm long and 30mm wide at the widest point. It comes with a meaning card and an adjustable wax cord and is presented in a beautiful wooden box.
Greenstone is the most commonly used name to describe the stone however the more traditional Maori name pounamu is becoming more popular.
