New Zealand Greenstone Fish Hook Pendant

 The hei-matau or fish hook as it is more commonly known symbolises strength, prosperity, abundance, fertility and safe passage over water. The hei-matau is held in great reverence by the Maori people as a cultural treasure. According to Maori legend it is believed that the north island of New Zealand was once a huge fish caught by Maui, the great mariner.
This fish hook is 40mm long and 30mm wide at the widest point. It comes with a meaning card and an adjustable wax cord and is presented in a beautiful wooden box.
Greenstone is the most commonly used name to describe the stone however the more traditional Maori name pounamu is becoming more popular.
