A wonderful greeting card from New Zealand featuring one of New Zealand's rare birds. This card features the Saddleback.
All the native birds selected for this range of cards have been selected for their beauty, in particular their song. The songs of these native birds are the sounds of New Zealand.
The card features an embossed picture of the Saddleback on the cover, the Saddleback is featured in it's natural habitat.
When the card is opened you receive a treat of an 8 second sample of the Saddleback's actual birdsong. Professionally recorded by conservation workers in the field.
The inside of the card there is a some information about the Saddleback, it reads:
Hopping across branches, gliding between trees, running along the forest floor, the saddleback prefers life nearer the ground. An aggressive bug eater, it rarely dines (or sings) alone
The Saddleback are an endangered species and endemic to New Zealand. Living near to the forest floor has meant that the Saddleback is an easy target for predators. Virtually extinct on the mainland, there are only 5000 surviving birds which can be found in a number of restoration projects situated on selected small islands around New Zealand.
The card is 120mm by 200mm and comes sealed complete with a designed matching envelope.
