Rimu Waka Stern Post Carving
This beautiful carving is the ornate stern post from a Maori Waka, canoe. Large Maori Wakas were called 'Waka Taua' and could be upto 40 metres long. They could carry upto 80 people and were usually elaborately carved and decorated. This stern post is a representation of one of the stern post from a traditional Maori waka taua.
The piece is carved from rimu and highlighted with paua shell.
Measurements: 120mm (4.7 inches) Tall and 65mm (2.6 inches) wide (without base), 130mm (5.1 inches) tall and 95mm (3.7 inches) wide (with base).
The piece comes in a black presentation box.
